David has been extensively involved with the Canadian Bar Association for many years in many capacities. He has been chair or co-chair of the Kamloops Family Law Section since 2001. He served eight years on the National Family Section, including one year as chair. As acting chair of the Family Law Working Group, he was involved with submissions to government on the ''[[Family Law Act]]'', and on the joint CBA/Law Society Best Practice Guidelines for family law.
