This new title covers income tax as well as other aspects of managing your finances and dealing with debt-related problems.
British Columbia has a harmonized sales tax, also referred to as HST. This is a sales tax of 12%.

The HST consists of a federal sales tax (5%) and a provincial sales tax (7%). It is called a harmonized tax because it combines the two taxes. You pay the HST on most things you buy or use. They include clothing, furniture, restaurant meals, phones, taxis, etc. There are a few exceptions. For example, there is no HST on groceries, rent, and public transit.
