Jane has always practiced in the area of family law. She qualified as a family law mediator in 1985. After 30-years as an advocate, her practice is now limited to mediation, parent co-ordination, Voice of the Child interviews, preparation of co-habitation/marriage agreements and arbitration.

Jane has served on the board of many community organizations, was an appointed member of the British Columbia Racing Commission, and was president of the Victoria Bar Association in 1995. In 2013-14 she served a one-year term as Family Law Practitioner In Residence at the University of Victoria Law School.
