There are some exceptions listed at Rule 100 of the Provincial Court Family Rules for when there is a consent order that resolves all the issues regarding any children, if a party doesn't speak the language the program is offered in (or has literacy challenges), or if a party cannot access the online program. Parties that completed the course within the past two years are also exempted.

This course usually needs to be completed before a family management conference is scheduled, and before an interim order can be requested or applied for. There are some exceptions to this requirement and Rule 100 of the Provincial Court Family Rules explains these exceptions.
